Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Alternative Provision Teaching Assistant to work full-time within a specialist provision in Skelmersdale from October.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people who may face barriers to learning, including SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, autism, ADHD, and other additional needs. You will play a key role in helping students engage with their education, develop positive relationships, and achieve their potential both academically and personally.

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs.
  • Support students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging learning activities.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support emotional regulation strategies.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and progress.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Ensure safeguarding and welfare procedures are followed at all times.
  • Have experience working with children or young people in education, care, youth work, or support settings.
  • Be confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner.
  • Have a positive, patient, and resilient attitude.
  • Be passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
  • Possess excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Have an understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
