Do you have experience in de-escalating challenging behaviour?

Are you looking to support children/ young people as a one-to-one?

We are looking for tutors to work directly with young people and support the de-escalation of challenging behaviour. The role involves supporting pupil outside of mainstream settings.

This behavioural tutor role involves providing educational sessions face to face with children at their residential home. This is often alongside a school or social workers to support their pupil with alternative provision until a full school place is confirmed for a specialist school if required or within a mainstream school for recent arrivals to the area/ those who are leaving school.

What to expect from this role?

-          You will be planning resources around the child’s needs as this could be likely on developing their knowledge in core subjects such as Maths, English and Science.

-          Being able to manage and implement different behaviour strategies is essential in this role as the pupil will likely have behaviour needs that need to be met.

The location for this would vary dependent on the need of the pupil but would be pre-agreed prior to commencement of the tuition. All pupils for this role however will be based in the Mansfield and Nottinghamshire area which has extensive transport links by road and bus.

What are we looking for in a tutor?

  • Have experience working with children or young people.
  • Range of behaviour management and coping mechanism.
  • Able to plan and deliver core and cross-curricular engaging sessions.
  • Applying skills to get pupils education back up to speed.
  • Checking that pupils are on track to achieve their desired learning outcomes and being able to provide feedback.
  • Desirable - SEN experience, any additional languages.

To be successful in your application, you must be able to provide evidence of this as skills and experience.

Please be aware that all applicants will be subject to background checks and will need a current DBS certificate (update service registered). Teaching Personnel can support your application should this be required.

Working hours are between Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm approximately, but you may be offered additional duties and responsibilities outside of these hours.
