A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Behaviour Support Officer to join a welcoming secondary school within a well-established Trust in Dudley. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is confident managing behaviour, building positive relationships with young people and creating a safe, respectful and supportive school environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Academy's behaviour expectations, helping students develop self-regulation, accountability and resilience, whilst ensuring students are able to fully engage in academy life.
The Role
The Behaviour Support Officer will predominantly be responsible for student supervision and behaviour management across the Academy campus, working closely with staff and students to promote high standards of behaviour.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Promoting excellent behaviour and positive attitudes throughout the Academy.
- Building positive relationships with students and encouraging them to take responsibility for their behaviour and choices.
- Supporting students to develop self-regulation, resilience and accountability.
- Providing individual and small-group support to targeted students where appropriate.
- Taking responsibility for student discipline, activities and standards of behaviour within designated areas.
- Carrying out physical supervision of students across the Academy.
- Supervising students during break and lunchtime.
- Supporting the supervision of students in seclusion.
- Monitoring student behaviour in and around the Academy campus.
- Supporting the implementation of the Academy's behaviour management procedures.
- Assisting with the safe and orderly dismissal of students at the end of the Academy day, both on site and in the immediate surrounding area.
- Encouraging students to participate positively and fully in Academy life.
- Working collaboratively with teaching, pastoral and support staff to ensure students receive consistent expectations and support.

- Police/Forces background
- Education or youth-focused role
Experience working within a secondary school is desirable, but
not essential. We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, confidence managing challenging behaviour and the ability to remain calm and consistent in difficult situations.

- Be able to establish positive relationships with young people quickly.
- Have excellent behaviour management and communication skills.
- Be calm, patient and resilient when dealing with challenging situations.

- Be able to encourage students to make positive choices and take responsibility for their actions.
- Work effectively as part of a wider pastoral and school team.
- Have a genuine commitment to improving outcomes and experiences for young people.
