We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient school behaviour teaching assistant to join one of our supportive secondary schools in Romford. This rewarding role involves working with pupils across KS3 and KS4 within a mainstream secondary setting who may present with challenging behaviour.

As a school behaviour teaching assistant, you will provide one-to-one and small group support, helping students manage their emotions, build confidence, and re-engage with learning. You'll work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to create a positive learning environment where every pupil can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with challenging behaviour in lessons and around the school.

  • Implement behaviour management and de-escalation strategies effectively.

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and progress.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to promote inclusion.

  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to relevant staff.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people with challenging behaviour, ideally within a school, youth work, or pupil referral unit (PRU) setting.

  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.

  • A positive, proactive approach to supporting pupils.

  • Ability to commit to a full-time role in the Romford area.
