Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work within secondary schools starting in September and on and ongoing basis.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to build confidence in the classroom, develop your skillset, and make a genuine difference in students’ academic journeys - all within supportive and welcoming school environments.

The Role

  • Assist students with SEN on a one-to-one basis or in small groups to help them engage fully in lessons and activities.
  • Work alongside teaching staff to support students during lessons, helping them access the curriculum and stay engaged.
  • Work with students with various learning needs, ensuring they receive the support they require to succeed, both academically and socially.
  • Assist in managing student behaviour in line with the school’s policies, encouraging a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Foster students' independence by helping them develop skills that will benefit them inside and outside the classroom.
  • Monitor the progress of students and share feedback with teaching staff to inform teaching strategies and provide tailored support.
  • Work closely with the SENCO and other colleagues to develop and implement personalized learning plans and strategies for students.

Who We’re Looking For

  • A genuine interest in working with young people and pursuing a career in education
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence, adaptability, and a proactive approach
  • The ability to maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning
  • Previous school or youth-based experience (desirable but not essential)
  • An understanding of SEND needs (such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language) is highly desirable
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths are essential. A Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3) would be an advantage but not required.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one, as well as satisfactory background checks

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
