Pastoral Teaching Assistant required at a Secondary School in South Manchester

We are currently seeking a dedicated and empathetic Pastoral Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team at a client secondary school in South Manchester, Wythenshawe. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing pastoral support to students, promoting their personal and social development, and ensuring their overall wellbeing.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide pastoral support to students, including one-to-one mentoring and group activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, senior leaders, and other support staff to identify students in need of additional pastoral care.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of pastoral support plans for individual students.
  • Contribute to the organisation and supervision of extra-curricular activities, providing opportunities for students to develop new skills and interests.
  • Act as a positive role model for students, promoting positive behaviour and values.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behaviour.

Requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in response to changing circumstances or student needs.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development in pastoral care and education more broadly.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the personal and social development of young people and helping them overcome any barriers to learning they may face.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at grade C/4 or above are essential; a degree qualification is desirable but not essential for this role.
