Are you a passionate and fully qualified teacher looking to make a significant impact on the lives of students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD)? Do you thrive in small class settings, where you can provide individualised support and guidance to students with complex needs?

As a fully qualified PMLD Teacher specialising in vocational and life skills, you will lead small class sessions with a high staff-to-student ratio to provide individualised support and facilitate meaningful learning experiences. Your role will be pivotal in empowering students with PMLD to develop essential skills for independence and future success.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons focused on vocational and life skills development for small class sizes, ensuring each student's individual needs and abilities are met.
  • Utilise a range of teaching strategies and resources to support students in acquiring practical skills, such as cooking, personal hygiene, and basic literacy and numeracy, tailored to their unique strengths and challenges.
  • Incorporate vocational training opportunities into the curriculum, collaborating with external partners and local businesses to provide authentic learning experiences.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues, therapists, and external agencies to develop and implement individualized education and transition plans, with a focus on maximizing independence and future prospects.
  • Keep accurate records and documentation of students' progress, achievements, and areas for development, using this information to inform ongoing planning and support.

Requirements:

  • Fully qualified teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with experience teaching students with Special Educational Needs.
  • Proven expertise in planning and delivering small class sessions, adapting teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of individual students.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant curriculum frameworks and resources for teaching vocational and life skills to students with complex needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a reflective approach to teaching practice.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
