Are you a passionate and motivated Teaching Assistant with a love for reading and helping children reach their potential? Academics is a dedicated education recruitment agency currently seeking a committed and enthusiastic Reading Intervention Teaching Assistant to support pupils across multiple primary schools in Newport.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work with learners, helping to close reading gaps and build confidence. You will be supporting children who need extra help with phonics, fluency, comprehension, and early literacy skills within welcoming and supportive school environments.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children in a school or educational setting (preferred)
    * Strong literacy skills and confidence in supporting reading development
    * Ability to engage and motivate learners who may lack confidence
    * A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach
    * Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
    * Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
    * Two recent professional references
    * A genuine passion for helping children develop a love of reading
