Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a Secondary SEN School in Wigan from September 2026.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people with a range of special educational needs, helping them to access learning, develop independence, and achieve their full potential within a supportive and inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with SEND.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
  • Support students' academic, social, emotional, and personal development.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and independence.
  • Adapt learning resources and strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and parents/carers.
  • Monitor and record student progress and achievements.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, either in education, care, or support settings.
  • A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Desirable Experience:

  • Supporting students with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs, speech and language difficulties, or moderate to severe learning difficulties.
  • Previous experience within a specialist SEN or secondary school setting.
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications or training.
